Money, Shapes and Counting by 10's!

In math this past week, the kids matched money. They did little matching puzzles to match coins to their amounts and to their names.

At another station, the kids sorted different 3D objects by shape. There were some 2D shapes mixed in so they have to make sure they split them up. The sorted spheres, cones, cylinders and cubes.

At another station, the kids practiced counting by 10's starting on different numbers and writing in the numbers in the blanks.

At my table this week, the kids spun different numbers and either added to them or subtracted from them.

Math and Science

In math this week we ...

Practiced counting by 10's starting on different numbers between 1 and 30 and writing them down

Practiced writing and building different numbers

Had races to see who could count and write the correct number first

Sorted coins into jars by amounts using pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters.

In Science, we reviewed what plants need to survive. At the end of the week, we planted grass seeds in different types of soil to see which ones would grow and which ones would not grow. We also made a terrarium with a Sprite bottle.

Our terrarium has rocks on the bottom, then soil, then seeds and a little more soil. We hope it work!

We planted our seeds in potting soil, loam soil, humus soil, sandy soil and clay soil.
