Earth Day Trash Art Project!

To celebrate Earth Day this year, I am inviting you to make some trash art with your kiddo(s) at home! Last year, we had some really creative projects come through our kinder classroom!

All you have to do is gather some items that you would normally throw away and create something with them. It could be an animal, a tool, a storage container of some kind, whatever you want!

Here are some examples of what you could do!

You do not have to do a project if you don't want to. If you do, please send them to school during Earth Week, April 17-21, so we can display them on the tables in the hallway. I hope to see yours!

Blog Picture Permission Form

I'm getting more and more pictures edited and posted! If you don't see your child in a photo and would like to, please print and return the bottom of the following form (or send a note and I can get one to your child's teacher). Please be sure to include your child's name at the top! It is hard to tell who some papers belong to without the child's name.

Because this blog is not directly through the school district, I would like a separate form that shows permission. If you think your child has turned one in and you still don't see them, let me know and I'll go through my lists and file.

Click the download button below to download and print the above page and the rest of the SSTEAM flip book for my class.

If you have any questions, please let me know! Thanks!

Since 2nd grade is learning about finances and will be in charge of each booth and making change, please send coins or small bills with your child to school.

Once students get their snacks, they will bring them into SSTEAM class to enjoy while they watch a musical movie.

Thank you for sending money with your children so they can help out 2nd Grade and participate in their Financial Literacy Project!

Our Class Fish ... And Frogs!

We have some pretty aquatic animals that get to spend their day with us! They don't have names yet, but we have 4 fish and 2 frogs in our little fish tank.

Two of our fish are Red Wag Platys

One is a Black Molly

Our frogs are African dwarf frogs and they are tiny!

Our last fish is a Sunburst Platy. Hopefully this next weekend I can grab a couple more fish and a few ghost shrimp to add to our collection!

I also just found out this past week that I will be able to get a lizard for our classroom! Soon we'll have at least one bearded dragon! I hope your kiddos are ready to help feed it crickets! :)

I hope everyone has had a nice and restful weekend. See everyone bright and early tomorrow morning!

Kinder Art Day!

This Friday was our first Art Day! After we watched a GoNoodle, which you can also do at home, we headed over to our learning groups! You can find more GoNoOdle info on our Having Fun at Home Page!

The kids wrote their names on their papers, then waited for an adult to come and help them trace their hand and part of their arm. Once they had it traced, they decorated their hand with markers, crayons and map pencils!

After we get everyone's hand cut out, we are going to put them in the hallway for everyone to see!

Our first week of school seemed to go waaaaay too quickly! I loved getting to see all of your kids each day! This week, we had music, science and art! I am working on sorting through all of the pictures that I took this week and making sure I have the right kids with the right permissions in each photo. Pictures should be up soon!

Welcome to SSTEAM!

Welcome to our SSTEAM Classroom! I am so excited to have each of your children in my class this year! SSTEAM stands for Social Studies, Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Music! Throughout the year, we will be doing different activities in each area. We will also have our very own classroom garden for each grade level to take care of! There will be a flip book sent home in Tuesday folders this week going over the different areas of our new SSTEAM program.

Our class not only has a blog page, but also  Remind 101 to remind you of different events and activities our kiddos will be doing throughout the year. If you ever have a cool idea, let me know and I will see if there is a way we could work it into our day!

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! It's going to be a great year!
