Ellen Ochoa

This week for Hispanic History Month we talked about Ellen Ochoa, the first Hispanic female to go into space! Monday we did our brainstorming about Ellen Ochoa and looked at her picture to try and figure out who she was and what her job was.

From her picture, the kids predicted that she was an astronaut who lived in the United States and took a rocket ship in her space suit and helmet to the moon.

Tuesday, the kids watched a little video about Ellen Ochoa from Nickelodeon's Hispanic History Month campaign. It talked about what she did and some of her hobbies.

Wednesday, the kids colored astronauts. I was testing students so I didn't get a chance to take any pictures of them working.

Thursday, we made out space helmets just like Ellen Ochoa's!
