Happy St. Patrick's Day!

St. Patrick's Day was Monday! Before we started our school day, I painted green shamrocks on the kids' faces. Throughout the day, our stations were St. Patrick's Day themed.

During social studies, we talked about the history of St. Patrick's Day and why we celebrate it. We talked about who St. Patrick was and why the Irish have a national holiday named after him.

After we talked about St. Patrick, I gave the kids a cloud with a sentence to trace and 6 strips of colored paper for them to make a rainbow of what they would wish for if a leprechaun gave them six wishes. They've got some creative wishes!

Motorcycle, gold, goldfish, Bugatti, Chevy and Lamborghini

After recess, we had shamrock floats! They were lime sherbet with Sprite and the kids ate them up!

After our little St. Patty's Day snack, we started our reading and writing stations. At one station the kids did a writing on how they would catch a leprechaun. At their second station, the kids colored a pot of gold and rainbow by matching the sight words and colors that were on the paper. At their third station, the kids matched words on hats with their word families either ending in "-at" or "-ad".
