Dear Parents,
THIS WEEK IN MATH:
These links can be accessed on our Step Up to 4th Grade Symbaloo here. As we continue through the unit, more links will be added.
Our last day of after school work time is this week. After school work
time will end at 4:00. All assignments were due this past Thursday, May 24. If you have any questions or concerns about
grades that are in Skyward, please let me know. What is currently in the grade
book is very similar to what final grades will look like. The only thing we
will continue to work on and that I will accept are corrections for assignments
that were turned in this past Thursday. These will be accepted through the end
of the week.

THIS WEEK IN MATH:
We will continue
our STEP UP TO 4TH GRADE Unit, our last unit of 3rd
Grade. Students will be reviewing concepts that students typically struggle
with, such as interpreting word problems and measurement skills.
Some of the
areas we will be focusing on this week are:
·
2
Digit by 2 Digit Multiplication
MATH
RESOURCES FOR PRACTICE
Khan
Academy - 2 Digit by 2 Digit Multiplication – This video on 2 digit by 2
digit multiplication from Khan Academy is a good way to see how to multiply 2
digit by 2 digit numbers.
Math Playground - 2
Digit by 2 Digit Multiplication – Practice 2 digit by 2 digit
multiplication on Math Playground using the standard algorithm method. You can
also view the area model on our class blog page here.
Soft
Schools - Learning Multiplication – Playing on Level 2 of the Learning Multiplication
game will give students 2 digit by 2 digit multiplication problems. Level 1
would be a good review of 2 digit by 1 digit multiplication problems. Level 3
is a mixed practice that includes numbers through the hundreds place.
Education Galaxy – As students log into
their accounts on Education Galaxy, they can choose the option to go up 1 level
and work through 4th grade materials. In the purple section titled “My Study Plan”, there are several
different topics to practice. The TEKS accompany these skills.

THIS
WEEK IN SCIENCE:
In science this week, we will continue our Unit on Organisms
and Ecosystems. We continue the unit by discussing food chains and how
ecosystems can be effected if there are changes in those food chains or other
aspects of the ecosystem. We will be discussing the following this week:
●
Predicting how
changes in a food chain affect the ecosystem
●
Understand how
environmental changes affect an environment
●
Understand the flow
of energy in a food chain
NASA's Climate Kids - Ecosystems –
Read these 10 interesting things about ecosystems that are found all over the
world! Navigate through the different activities on the plants and animals page
to learn about a slew of other topics!
PBS Kids Plum Landing – Navigate through the different activities on the Plum Landing page of PBS Kids Science
page to play games about different ecosystems! The kids have been shown where
to find this link to PBS Kids on our class blog page and how to find our
embedded Symbaloo.
Desert Ecosystem Game – Still one of my favorite games! The game will
cycle through 12 days and show you which plants and animals are still surviving
in their ecosystem, which plants and animals are not doing so well, and which
plants and animals have perished.
World Biomes – Learn about different types of biomes including
the location, plant life, and animal life. Choose from 5 different aquatic
biomes and 9 different terrestrial biomes. There are also word searches,
crossword puzzles and fill in the word games to print and play.
