It’s almost time!
Can you believe that we will be taking STAAR tests in just 6 school days!? Ours
last day of Math Mastery will take place this Monday, May 7. If there is anything that you want you child to
continue to practice as we get ready for STAAR, please let me know and I can
send you resources either through email or in a packet.
We will continue
reviewing skills from the year. Your child will be reviewing all skills from
the year that we have covered in preparation for our STAAR test on Monday, May 14. This would be a great time for your child to practice
the different math modules on Education Galaxy, as well as review other skills
from previous snapshots that have been sent out. These can be found on our blog
page at http://msmolixsclass.blogspot.com/p/weekly-snapshots.html
STAAR Review
STAAR
Review Jeopardy: We have played Jeopardy in class as a review, and you can play
at home! Set up to 16 teams and play with family or friends at home! There are
different games to choose from. Each game covers different skills.
You can also click here
to see the search list of 3rd grade math STAAR jeopardy games
Test Prep Review – Practice Questions over various
math objectives
Another
great way to continue to review for STAAR is to practice problems like those that
are sent home from morning work. Reviewing those problems and seeing where
mistakes may have occurred is a great way to practice those skills. Coming up
with similar problems would also be very helpful.
THIS
WEEK IN SCIENCE:
In science this week, we will continue our Unit on Organisms
and Ecosystems. We will continue discussing animals and look at life cycles of
animals such as lady bugs. We will also be looking at the ways animals thrive
in their environments and ecosystems.
●
different soils and
their impact on the growth of a plant;
●
investigating how
plants undergo a series of orderly changes;
●
compare soils for
their ability to grow plants;
●
the certain
characteristics of an environment that help organisms survive;
●
all of an organism’s
needs and how they are met by its habitat;
●
describing the
physical characteristics of an ecosystem
NASA's Climate Kids - Plants &
Animals –
Read these 10 interesting things about ecosystems that are found all over the
world! Navigate through the different activities on the plants and animals page
to learn about a slew of other topics!
PBS Kids
Nature Games – Navigate through the different nature games on
PBS Kids. The kids have been shown where to find this link to PBS Kids on our
class blog page and how to find our embedded Symbaloo.
BrainPOP Classifying Animals-
BrainPOP Jr. has so many different videos about animals! The videos about
camouflage, food chains, and different habitats would be perfect for learning
about the different ways animals thrive in their environments.
More websites and links can be found on our class
blog page on our Symbaloo. This is embedded on the Technology Station page.
Thank you so much for your dedication to helping your child learn.
