Homework: Comparing
and Ordering Numbers and Rounding
front and back
Science
Homework:
Metric Measurement
front and back
|
Graded homework begins this
week! As per grading in grouping, homework that is turned in late will have 10
points taken off for each day that it is late. Homework that is more than 3
days late may not be accepted.
We are starting new lessons this
week that look at comparing and ordering numbers, and rounding. We will be
using our envision MATH book and videos this week to
help with comparing and ordering
Some of the areas we will be focusing on this
week are:
·
Compare two or more numbers using the correct
symbol (>, <, =).
·
Put three or more numbers in order from least to
greatest or greatest to least.
·
Represent a number on a number line between two
multiples of 10, 100, 1,000 or 10,000.
·
Use a number line to compare and order numbers.
·
Use a number line to round numbers.
·
Round numbers to the nearest 10 or 100.
We will be representing these skills in our math
notebooks. Math notebooks can go home at any time for extra practice and
studying! Please be sure to return math notebooks to school each day so that we
may continue to take notes and work through examples in them.
MATH RESOURCES FOR PRACTICE
FREE FROM THE APP
STORE - Math Rescue Fun Mental Games – This free game from
Apple’s app store allows you to run with Toby the emoji through the forest and
put out fires with water balloons! This game focuses on rounding and estimation
skills, while also targeting mental math.
Mr. Nussbaum - Half Court Rounding – Try to score as
many points as possible by rounding numbers to the nearest ten, hundred, or
tenth. You can choose to play with decimals, or without decimals. Choose to
shoot 3’s, 2’s or dunk the ball!
ABCya - Soccer Math – Choose from 3
different levels of difficulty! Round the number given to the nearest number
listed, and earn a kick each time you get an answer correct. Once you earn all
of your kicks, kick the soccer ball into the goal!
Math-Play - Pirate
Rounding – Round the number given on each screen to earn points
and different items! If you miss too many questions, you will not be able to
find the treasure at the end of the game.
Math Games 4
Children - Crocodile Game – Practice rounding numbers to the nearest number
given in the game board style online game. Roll the dice, and watch the fro
move along the swamp to different numbers. Answer the question and stay in your
spot. If you answer incorrectly, you have to go back. Watch out for the
crocodiles and storks!

Value and Money Symbaloo here. As we continue
through the unit, more links will be added.
We will continue looking at measuring within the
metric system. We will continue measuring the lengths of objects using our
meter tapes, and begin measuring mass in grams, and volume and capacity in
liters.
Some of the areas we will be focusing on this week
are:
●
How to make measurements with appropriate units
●
Standard measurement units in the metric system
●
How to measure
liquids accurately
Khan Academy - Mass – View video that discusses mass, then practice
with questions that compare grams and kilograms! You can also practice
different word problems with mass. *When
accessing from Symbaloo, click the navy Learner’s, start here button, Math By
Grade – 3rd, measurement and data, and then choose mass.
·
Student will be setting up their own accounts
for Khan Academy within the upcoming weeks using their school email addresses.
This is the same email address they will use to log into our chrome books. If
you would like to begin practicing at home, you can have your child create
their own account with their school email by clicking this link. The code to join
our class is VFQR45RK. Their password will be the same password they use to log
on to the computer at school. If you would like this information, please let me
know and I will send it home!
Discovery Education - Meter Video – Students will log into their Discovery Education
accounts using Ready Hub. This video goes through what a meter is, what we may
measure with a meter, and what segments a meter is broken down into.
BrainPOPJr - Centimeters, Meters, Kilometers – Watch the BrainPOPJr video on centimeters,
Meters and Kilometers. You can also play a game that lets you drag and drop
items that are less than or greater than a meter. You can also view the
BrainPOPJr videos and play the games for Milliliters and Liters and Grams and Kilograms
BrainPOP - Metric Units – Watch the BrainPOP video on Metric Units and
play the game where you are able to watch a quick video and put events from the
metric time line in order.
These links can be accessed on our Scientists
Measure Symbaloo here. As we continue
through the unit, more links will be added.
Thank you so much for your dedication to helping your child learn.
