This week in math, the kids did scavenger hunts for shapes and kinaras, and practiced adding numbers and amounts together.
At their first station this week, the kids searched around the room for cards with different shapes on them. Once they found a card, they matched the number on the card with the number on their paper and drew the shape. Once they found all their shapes, they colored them whatever color their paper told them to.
At their second station, the kids searched around the room for cards with different amounts of kinaras on them. Once they found a card, the matched the letter on the card with the letter on their paper and wrote how many kinaras were on the card.

At their third station this week, the kids added marshmallows together and wrote them as addition problems.
At my table this week, the kids used dice to roll numbers and make up their own addition problems. They wrote their numbers in each box and added buttons to their snowmen to help them count, then wrote their sums. After they made their problems on their mats, they wrote the number sentence on their record sheet.
